Marblehead class in the Netherlands.

Welcome to the homepage of KOM (Klasse Organisatie Marblehead), the Dutch Marblehead Class Organization.

KOM is internationally represented by RZN (formerly "NEMOZO"), the Dutch ISAF- Division Member.

At the end of 2006 DIOMCA was founded. DIOMCA is class-organization for the IOM and has joined RZN as such, so RZN also represents the IOM class in the Netherlands.

KOM organizes regatta’s for the M-class, but at most regatta’s the IOM class is welcome to join.

Check the regatta calendar by clicking “wedstrijdkalender” at the left.

Radiosailing is a skill sport that is being practised all over the world in various classes. Especially in England, Germany and France it is very popular. In the Netherlands races are organised with the Marblehead or M–class. The boats can be steered with a two channel transmitter (one for the rudder and one for adjusting the position of the jib and mainsail). There are enough transmitting frequencies available making it possible to sail with larger fleets at once.

Racing rules are, except for some practical changes, equal to the international Racing Rules of Sailing for sailing boats with the crew on board. The latest issue of these rules are known as  “The Racing Rules of Sailing for 2009-2012” issued by the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) (downloadable from the ISAF site, click for access) and is issued in Dutch translation by the “Watersportverbond”.

Because of the small size of the boats and the fact that the crew is not on board but ashore, often at quite a distance, there are some exceptions and extra rules. These are published in appendix E of the ISAF rules. For radiosailing, the ISAF has a separate division, the ISAF-IRSA (International Radio Sailing Association).
